TRCC Wins Fair Play Award

It’s official, Twyford and Ruscombe’s cricketers are a bunch of great guys everyone loves playing against.

The club has been awarded the Thames Valley Cricket League’s (TVCL) Fair Play Award for 2025.

This means the two league sides led by Marc Teal and Tom Powell have been repeatedly graded as welcoming on and off the field by their opposition.

The announcement was made at the TVCL Annual Meeting on Tuesday, December 9, with First Team skipper Teal accepting the award.

The trophy is called the Rod Dye Fair Play Trophy, and TRCC has also been given a very welcome £1,000 for winning the award.

Essentially each team is given a mark out of 10 by their opposition as to how sporting they have been over the course of the game.

The teams with the most points over the course of the season win the trophy.

Teal said: “I’m really proud that the club has won the fair play award. The players have been fantastic on the pitch and much appreciation must go to Ian Evans for being, quite simply, the best and fairest umpire in the league.”

Chairman Simon Burr added: “This is brilliant news, well done to both the sides for making our matches such fun to play in.

“There are 101 clubs in the league, many of whom put out three or four sides, so for us to be consistently rated as being the fairest and most welcoming club is incredible.”
