As announced to the club - Dear members of the cricket club, past and present,
It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the loss
of a personal
friend and a great clubman, Rod Edney at the weekend. Rod had
been with the
club for 25 years and served us in many roles, most notably as
Treasurer and Captain.
We must not speculate at this time, but as many of you know, Rod
had Parkinson's Disease
and yet despite this he performed ably as our wicket keeper and
overcame this limitation.
Rod made a personal decision to end his own life and I am sure
you will join in me in
passing our deepest condolences to his parents and brother who
are understandably distraught.
'Rodders' will be missed by all of us and I shall leave the
committee to advise you of further
news for his funeral arrangements.
On behalf of the committee,
Dave Downes
