Colts Section

Twyford & Ruscombe Cricket Club offer cricket coaching for boys and girls in school years 1 to 8.  All sessions are fun, full of active participation and provide gently progressive drills and technical exercises as well as small sided games that serve to introduce and improve basic cricket skills.  We are always keen to recruit more youngsters to the squads as well as additional coaches and helpers.  All are given a very warm welcome.

We offer both friendly and competitive league fixtures and this year our U9, U11 and U13 are all in the Berkshire Youth Cricket League.

If you have any questions or would like more information then do please contact Nic Downes (Youth Coordinator) on 07785 738655 or There is a youth membership form attached to this page.

We require a membership form to be completed for all boys and girls that attend our coaching sessions as this form contains important information about contact details and any medical issues e.g. asthma that the coaching team need to be aware of.  A link to our membership form can be found at the bottom of the page.

Our Annual Subscriptions for 2016 are £25 for U7 (school years 1 & 2) and £40 for all ages above  U7.  Details for electronic transfer to the club account will be provided in regular junior cricket emails.

We have 3 ECB Qualified Level 2 coaches and 3 more due to complete qualification early this summer.  We also have an ECB Level 1 qualified coach and another who works in sports coaching for a living.

A big plus for the Youth section is the significant number of parent helpers who are happy to get involved and support the coaches at the training and net sessions.

We ask our U9s, U11s and U13s to wear whites (tops and trousers) for all coaching sessions and matches.
For the U7 we would like to see a white T-Shirt.
For the U9, U11 and U13 all boys need to have an ‘abdominal guard’ (box) and an ‘athletic supporter’ (jock strap) that holds the abdo guard in the correct place.  There is currently no ECB requirement for girls to wear any abdominal protection.

All other equipment for all age groups is provided by the club (bats, pads, gloves, helmets). Please also note the "ECB Guidance Note: Safety measures for helmets within recreational cricket" document which is attached to this page (PDF).
