Dear all
A diary change: the annual dinner has been put
back a week (because of nets) to Friday May 2nd. 7.30pm at the Crown,
Playhatch. The cost per person will be £33, to include coffee and service
charge. Before anyone starts throwing their hands into the air and
protesting, can I remind you that the AGM approved going back there, that the
venue is perfect for our needs, and the all-in price makes payment, menu choices
etc much more simple (for me). Last time hardly anyone left a tip, which
left me with a little explaining. I'll be sending out menu choices nearer
the time. We are planning a major working party on Saturday April 12th
(weather permitting) to construct a concrete surface for the new outdoor
net. Volunteers required, and if anyone has particular expertise in laying
concrete (flat, preferably) could they step forward?
I hope you will all have seen Paul's announcement regarding indoor nets. I should stress that this was the only evening slot we could get, and I'm really sorry if the timing makes it difficult for some. We'll try to do better next year, but the pressure for slots increases all the time. Work has already begun on the square, with a first cut and roll. It's looking better that it ever has done before. I'd be grateful if those living in the village could make a habit of checking every now and then that the posts and rope are in position, and that idiots are not playing football there. Any problems should be reported to me. All the best Tom |
