TRCC 'Thunder' vs. Wokingham Red Oaks - May 5th 2017

WRO won the toss and elected to bowl first.  Twyford's batting was steady and fairly even throughout the innings but not spectacular.  Everyone got off the mark, so no ducks which was rally good to see, however 6 dismissals (4 clean bowled, 1 stumping out and 1 caught out) cost the team 30 runs.

When Twyford bowled WRO got off to a quick start but as the bowling settled the run rate slowed down.  A few wickets started to fall (5 clean bowled and a run out). A final flourish from WRO gave them a good finish.

The final scores were TT 271-6 and WRO 285-6.

The above may look like a close game and it was but what it fails to reveal is that in my view this was a game that Twyford should have won comfortably!  The opposition were Wokingham's U10s and we had a much more experienced side.
As well as the wickets we gave away I can highlight that WRO gave away 58 runs in wides and no-balls and that the more experienced Twyford gave away 66!
There are plenty of things to work on with both the batting and the bowling.

The Man of the Match for TT was pretty straightforward. Josh Murray was the biggest
contributor with the bat, 8 runs and no outs, and he was also one of the teams best bowlers; 3 overs, 1 wicket for 11 runs which included 3 wides.
Very well done Josh, a very strong all round performance.

There is also a target in Josh's bowling figures that all of the boys need to aim for, an average of no more than 1 illegal ball (wide or no-ball) per over.  Of the other 8 boys who bowled last night only Thomas Croskell managed to equal that target!
The really frustrating thing here is that as a team they clean bowled WRO 5 times, so they can do it, they can all do it.  They all need to believe in themselves and become much more consistent.  Practice makes perfect, we will be doing lots of bowling on Thursday!
