A glorious sunny day, with the temperature in the low 20s, Twyford played host to Swyncombe at Stanlake Meadow, Winning the toss, TRCC decided to field (despite the heat!). Things got off to an unfortunate start for the home side with opening bowler Burgess pulling a muscle in his back, having to stop after 2 maidens. He soon had to leave the field, reducing Twyford to 10 men. But this did not cause too many problems, with good bowling & fielding keeping the run rate down. Only one batsman, Domnick, was comfortable at the crease, but he was very comfortable indeed! He was eventually dismissed by N Downes with the score on 111 having scored the vast majority of Swyncomb's runs. After Domnick's departure runs were only added slowly. The final score of 154 looked well chase-able! It is worth highlighting the bowling of Yasar Khan who was playing his first game for Twyford. We hope to see more of his fast, swinging deliveries in the future. |
