TRCC lost the toss and batted.

TRCC: 134 ao. Chris Lunnon 53
Knowl Hill: Adam Brookman 5-30, Tom Goodluck 4-39

Knowl Hill: 138-4. Matthew Crawcour 67*
TRCC: Ken Cochrane 2-19

4 games to go and 2nd placed TRCC desperate to get back to winning ways, facing of to 3rd place Knowl Hill (KH). A dry warm day with a bit of cloud around and a good looking track albeit with the traditional slow, low bounce that has been dominant at Stanlake Meadow this year. Lunnon and Pringle to open again for TRCC with KH surprisingly opening with spinner Brookman. However whether that was a decision based on lack of team bowlers or reading the pitch well who knows but Pringle stepped across the line, missed the ball and Brookman had the first wicket lbw and TRCC 0-1. Woodbridge in next and TRCC got going at a quick pace with KHs other opener Harrison struggling for line and length. Woodbridge survived a very close run out but not long after was gone for 16 after a sharp stumping of Brookman again. His third wicket came a few balls later having Barrable lbw of what sounded like a bottom edge sweep, TRCC 51-3. Cochrane in and TRCC started to build the only meaningful partnership of the innings. Lunnon passed 50 for the first time in ages but then Cochrane walked after a very faint edge to the keeper trying to drive a ball outside off stump and Lunnon was caught on 53 moments later, TRCC in disarray once more on 97-5. Unfortunately TRCC proceeded to falter with Brookman taking 5, Goodluck 4 and TRCC all out for 134 in the 33rd over. 5 lbws in the innings and 4 ducks for a very disappointing effort from TRCC.

A superb spread by Ian Evans only delayed a depressed TRCC taking the field with the steadfast Millson and Gordon to open for KH. Beamish and Woodbridge to open the bowling and despite bowling well KH were looking comfortable given they had 57 overs to chase down 134. Cochrane on for Beamish to bowl his full length darts and shortly afterwards had Millson trapped plumb, KH 39-1. Evans on for Woodbridge and another good bowling change saw him bowl Gordon of an inside edge and pad for 24, KH 45-2. Crawcour in next and keen to get off strike hit direct to mid on and ran giving Depledge little chance after a fine throw from Schofield and quick hands from Higgins, KH stumbling at 48-3. Cochrane then trapped new man Derwell next ball and suddenly there was a glimmer of hope with KH 48-4. However, despite tight bowling from Cochrane in particular who bowled 14 overs straight for 19 runs, TRCC were unable to take any further wickets. Crawcour and Plank were being very patient, scoring very slowly though TRCC always felt if Crawcour fell they had a very good chance at the remaining bats. Barrables off-breaks were tempting some big shots and Crawcour looked to have holed out to deep mid wicket but a difficult chance was put down by Evans. Later towards the end with Beamish back on Crawcour mis-hit a pull which lobbed up to mid wicket only for Evans to inexplicably drop the simplest of catches. The game was most likely gone at that stage but it highlighted a very frustrating day for TRCC and a poor effort to hold onto 2nd place.

3 games left in the league season and still a chance of course for TRCC but now relying on KH and Earley slipping up whilst hoping the 1 from 6 slump they are in ends with 3 wins from 3. Sandhurst already promoted in first place after a truly deserved run of 14 wins from 15 matches so far.
