TRCC vs. Bledlow Ridge - 22nd June 2008

Twyford travelled to wind-swept Bledlow Ridge for a game organised thru the Conference. Pete Woodman, captain in Nick Downe's absence, put B Ridge in in a 40-over game. 18-year-old Stevens played wonderfully well for his 82 and at one stage the home side looked well capable of anything between 260 and 300. But Chris Fort, in another good spell, accounted for Stevens and got thru the middle order so that Bledlow were resticted to 207.

Woodman and Dave Benjamin then made a good start, both peppering the short boundary on one side. But both fell when well set after an opening stand of 107 and despite debutant Joe Hancock, Smith and Baker keeping up the challenge, Twyford fell just short in a howling gale, with 189 proving the star with the ball as well. It was a teriffic match on a lovely ground in as strong a wind as anyone could remember playing in.
