TRCC vs. Frimley - 23rd May 2004

Once again at home, Twyford played host to Frimley on a very pleasant Sunday afternoon.

Winning the toss, Frimley put Twyford into bat. Tight bowling from Scott and Taylor kept the runs to a minimum, and the pressure paid off in only the fifth over when Russell was caught off Scott. Fort joined Woodman at the crease, and together they put on 62 runs, but at a slow pace - When Fort was out in the 24th over only 68 runs were on the board. Runs continued to be hard to get, but wickets less so. Soon Twyford were on the ropes at 102 for 8. Evans put up the only resistance with a well-played 19, but the final total of 138 seemed far too small. All praise to a tight bowling performance from Frimley.

But Twyford were not about to throw in the towel just yet! Fine opening spells from Hackett and Cochrane kept runs down, and always threatened a breakthrough. That came in the 7th over with Hackett bowling Durham. The other opener Dickinson soon joined him in the pavilion, unluckily bowled by an unplayable ball from Cochrane. Twyford's relentless attack continued with D and N Downes giving nothing away to Frimley, wickets falling but no runs for the visitors. It was all over in the 31st over with Frimley having scored just 61 runs. 4 wickets to N Downes, but the remarkable figures of 9 overs, 7 maidens, 4 runs for 4 wickets for D Downes.

Twyford very happy to record their first victory of the season!
