TRCC vs. Falkland 2nds - 29th June 2003

Twyford got off to a good start with Downes and Benjamin putting on 38 for the first wicket. 50-1 however soon became 64-5 as the middle order haplessley folded. Wren with an excellent 67 not out held the inings together and with a succession of tailenders managed several productive partnerships. A total of 164 looked like a good game score on low pitch but with a fast outfiled and so it proved.

The Falkland reply was derailed early on when Hackett took 3 wickets in his 3rd over. Browning, first with White and then Calisle steadied the ship but when he was undone by a good slower ball from Downes it looked as though Twyford would run through the tail. Hackett was brought back and he went on to bag a 5 wicket haul but the well coached Falkland tail played with very straight bats and took the game toward a thrilling finish. They lost their 9th wicket still needing 7 runs from 2 overs but cool heads saw them home with 2 balls to spare.
